New York: Viking Press, 1941. An Ohio native, McCloskey moved to Boston in 1932 to study at the Vesper George Art School and lived on Myrtle Street. The book wins the Caldecott Medal for best children’s picture book in 1942. The ducks are immortalized by a sculpture in the Boston Public Garden in 1987.*
